MFP Sketch With A Twist #39 - Use A Banner
Happy Birthday!
The use of pastels gives a Spring feeling to this card made for my last GDT at
Mark's Finest Papers Sketch With A Twist
The sentiments and images were stamped using the Celebrate Mini 2012 set which you can purchase here
Cut an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of white card stock to 8.5 x 5.5 inches, score and fold at 4.25 inches
Cut pink Colorbok designer paper to 5.25 x 4 inches
Stamp the birthday cake and color with your black ink and color and cut out close to the image
One dried, apply the liquid pearls
(daffodil on the candle flames and the lime green and flamingo were used on the flowers) -
follow drying instructions and test before trying to touch this or you will have a mess on your image!!!
(This IS experience telling you this)
The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped with the Rose Bud, cut and cut to size just around the sentiment.
The flower image was stamped in Mustard Seed.
Once the ink dried it was colored and cut just around the image.
White card stock was stamped randomly with the mustard seed, dried marigold and the Rose Bud and the sentiment and flower image were mounted with foam tape to the
"rainbow background" which was then trimmed
Liquid pearls was added to the flower centers and at the corners of the Happy Birthday block.
A piece of 5.75 inch of thread was cut and taped to the
back of the pink paper at 1 1/4" from the bottom
(I left this a little loose so that I could pull it down some in the middle).
Cut 7 pieces of white card stock in 3/8" x 7/8" triangles and randomly stamped with the ink pads
Tape these triangles to white card stock and trim with decorate scissors
Tape the pink paper to the white card base
Attach in front of the thread with tape making the center the lowest point
(make it look like it is sagging in the middle)
Foam tape was used applied to the "banners"
Liquid pearls lime green was dotted at each corner on the top of each banner
The sentiment and image blocks were attached with foam tape

Tsunami Rose Challenge #12 - Color Inspiration
It's Wednesday - Tsunami Rose Designs Challenge Time!!
Week #12 - "Color Inspiration"
Using the Life Abloom Printable Journal Set
which you can buy here
Tsunami Rose Designs Links
- Here is a close up:And my PRC (Photo Recipe Card) if you would like to follow along.I cut a standard piece of 8 1/2 x 11" base out of beige card stock to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4"I decided to use a 1 1/2 x 4 3/4" piece of the journal paper(since is was approximately 1/3 of the width of the card).A piece of pink card stock was cut to fit the journal paper and the corners cut with anEK Success photo corner punch. The sentiment from the journal pack was trimmed and backed with black card stock to fit.All of the layers were distressed with Ranger's Old Paper Distress Ink.The journal paper was distressed with a Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios Paper Distresser andtorn in a few places to "age" it a little more.(Gotta Love That "Vintage" Look!)Another piece of black card stock was trimmed to fit the "frame"The "frame" was glued with an ATC and the sentiment block was attached with foam tape.An Inkadinkado Dot Flourishes stamp was used with embossing ink and heat embossed with Recollections Ebony Opaque Embossing PowderThe butterfly was a new product I recently purchased from Eureka StampsIt is the butterfly paper sculpture. I thought I would try using this since I don't own a butterfly die. What a cool, easy (did I say REALLY easy) way to make my own winged crittersAfter printing out the digi, I put it in my copier and printed it out on velum.I colored it with water color pencils (although next time I will try using my Sprectum Noir markers on it) and outlined it with a embossing pen and then heat embossed with the black powder.I would do the embossing first the next time and then the coloring, but I didn't think it through BEFORE working on it.The image was cut out (3 pieces) and then glued together. After it dried, I used a stylus (actually I used a star shaped screwdriver and an old mouse pad - since I don't own a stylus per sea) on the back of the paper to give it some shape and dimensionI added a few silk flower heads around the sentiment (attaching with glue)Some Offray pink accents were added to the butterfly, the flourish areas and a few places on the card and inthe center of the flowers. Thanks, so very much for stopping by and checking out this beautiful collection that Daisy has put together for you.Make sure you join the challenge this week for a chance to win it!

MFP Sketch with a Twist #38 - Use a Fancy Border
It's Tuesday - time for Mark's Finest Papers
Use a Fancy Border
This great image and sentiment are from MFP's Sand Dollar Mini 2012 .
And here is the sketch:
Navy blue card stock was stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with Recollections Aged Silver Chunky Embossing Powder, the sentiment was cut out and applied with foam tape to a piece of black card stock cut to 2 3/4" square. The same Darice gems were attached to 2 of the corners.
A 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" white cardstock base was layered with a border cut with a
Friskar's Decorative Punch and
laced with Gold metallic ribbon and a bow (from my stash).
A strip of Darice black adhesive backed acrylic gems were added to either side of the ribbon.
The sentiment was stamped on navy (2 3/4" x 1 1/4") card stock with embossing ink and heat embossed with Rubber Stampede Gold embossing powder (on my stove - as I STILL don't have a heat gun). It was mounted on black card stock and trimmed to size. Additional acrylic gems were added to each corner.
Head on over to Mark's Finest Papers Blog and check out the Challenge
I'll bet they have a great stamp set ready to give someone!
Have a terrific Tuesday, my crafting friends!
Blessings!

Roses of Picardy
This beautiful paper is
6x6 Vintage Digital Printable Scrapbook Paper -
"Picardy Roses" from
Tsunami Rose Designs collection and you can get it
here.
And here is my photo recipe card that I love to show ya'll
All the edges of the card were inked with a makeup sponge using mixtures of Time Holta (Ranger) Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Old Paper
The music paper is from:
Kraft Paper was embossed with a
Sizzix Decorative Flourishes die and sponged with the same
Distress Ink, sprayed with water and sponged with
Ranger's Distress Metallic Stain alternating with Antiqued Bronze and Tarnished Brass
Since I couldn't figure out how to use these new dies in my Grand Calibur
(haven't had time to research it yet, anyone want to help -
they aren't only for embossing, are they?),
I had to hnd cut these (what fun with MS).
I glued them to the side panels and attached some discount store adhesive backed gems
Had to get creative to keep the glue from sticking to the center - I simply slid a piece of waxed paper between them until the glue dried.
First layer
Banner and
die cut leaves using Spellbinders Shapeabilities Foliage dies,
The leaves were inked and sprayed with Goosebumps for texture and then "folded a little" for dimension.
I did a bit of a "cut out" for interest and added on my layer and added
Ranger Liquid Pearls in Butterscotch and Flamingo to the roses that I had cut.
After they dried, I attached them to the original with foam tape.
The "second layer and the banner" were attached with foam tape and a piece of sheer copper ribbon from my stash was tied to the front.
Thanks for checking out today's newest creation. Hope you liked it.
Blessings!
Trudy
