That is my New Year's Resolution for 2014
and it is also the challenge at
for #106 this week.
Well, actually, "New Year's Resolution" is the challenge!
The "background" was actually a scrap - something I had made for another DT project and didn't like the way it was turning out. I tossed it aside thinking I might use it sometime, guess what, I really did use it.
Miracles never cease.
It was dry/wet embossed using a Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls folder, Versamark Embossing Fluid and some Clear Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder (Recollections - Michaels Crafts).
I knew I needed to cover up the edges where I applied a little too much powder so the decision was made that this was the perfect location for the main image.
Lavender lace (stash) was added to the bottom of the panel and a strip of gold metallic ribbon (also from my stash) was applied with 1/8" scor tape at the top edge of the lace.
After checking for placement of my sentiment and image, I added some black bling flourishes
(Recollections -Michael's Crafts).
The swan image is a sneak peak at the Swans 2014
and the
"Relax" sentiment is from the
Umbrellas and Fans 2014 set.
Both of these sets will be released in January!
They are awesome.
The swan was heat embossed with Recollections Ebony Opaque Embossing Powder.
The leaves in the background are from the
The Relax sentiment and the leaves were stamped with Black ColorBox Pigment Ink.
They were cut with a Spellbinders Wavy Rectangles die.
The leaves were cut on my Cricut (Picturesque, I believe - I keep a box full of leaves in various colors and sizes and just grab them as I need them), and "colored" with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers
(DG2, DG3 and DG4).
I laid out the flowers and leaves for correct placement before attaching them to the base (which has now been fully assembled with my ATG and 1/4" tape).
The finished project!
Remember to play along to win this stamp set this week.
There are such great sets to win and remember if you use a Mark's Finest Papers and Stamps set you increase your chances.
Good Luck!

Such a beautiful card Trudy, love all the lovely flowers and texture you created to show off the pretty swan! I think that we all should learn to relax a little more in this hustle bustle world!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card. So much detail and great explanations. I hope you won't have to do as much paddling as the swan to stay looking so serene on top and relaxation will become part of your routine.
